Queen - Flash Gordon (Full Album)
The soundtrack contains numerous sound-bites from the film. This was a good inclusion because some of the instrumental tracks are rather plain - the voice overs give it a bit of spice. Also the Flash theme is not the same as a the single release version.

Dune Trailer (1984)
There's something about Dune that appeals to me, but a lot of people do not go for it.
I think I appreciate various conceptual aspects (the Houses, the fact that intelligent computers are banned, some of the weapon and ship designs) and the 'epic' look to certain scenes (the lighting, the worn look, the vast-scale cinematography), such that I overlook the often talked about flaws of the film (being relatively disjointed and too short to convey the story effectively). I like its difference to other sci-fi films of the 80s.
"The Sleeper has awakened!" Epic - but not for everyone.

Ivanhoe (1982)
Ivanhoe, the son of a Saxon nobleman, returns to England from the Crusades. Prince John is Regent in the absence of his brother, King Richard the Lionhearted who is imprisoned in Austria. Saxons have not accepted their Norman conquerors and there is much animosity between them. Ivanhoe arrives at court just as a jousting tournament begins and bests the three Norman noblemen who have agreed to take on all comers. Ivanhoe is seriously injured however and is cared for by Isaac of York and his beautiful daughter Rebecca. They are taken prisoner however, along with Ivanhoe's father Cedric and his ward Rowena, by the three knights Ivanhoe bested in the tournament. With the assistance of Robin Hood, the mysterious Black Knight attacks the castle of Front-de-Boeuf where the captives are being held. It's left to Ivanhoe to rescue to rescue Rebecca however when she is accused of being a witch.

'Pirate' fighters attack the Draconia
A great sci fi series that had a lot of potential. I would have preferred that Season 2 continued on from Season 1 - being located on Earth - and that they kept the original cast. They could have also kept a dark element to the show as seen in the pilot episode, with the areas outside the high tech cities being a dangerous ruin-filled zone or wasteland populated by psychotic mutants.
If they remake the series I hope that the original starfighter designs are retained and that they choose a mature cast rather than going with young glossly looking models/actors.
This is the concept of Earth, from the pilot, that appeals to me:

Dire Straits - Tunnel of Love
A really great song with a very average film clip. The song is SO inspiring and yet the clip is pretty bland. I think there should have been more close ups of the guitar playing and band members with serious, reflective expressions. I would have liked to see some freedom-inspiring outdoors shots with clouds, mountains, a young couple etc. A serious story could have been played out by actors cut back to the band playing.
Check out the song as it appears in the film An Officer and a Gentleman (it's in German, but you don't have to understand what they are saying to see there is some tension here):

At the very least the Dire Straits clip should have had close ups of the guitar playing.

Stargate Trailer - 1994
The high production standards of this film are apparent. It looks sensational and it's not a bad story. Worth checking out. The full film is posted on You Tube in parts. I ended up buying the DVD after watching it here. The folks who look to censor material on You Tube should think twice. I've bought a lot of stuff after watching online.
