Battle of the Planets Intro
Such a kick arse show that was packed with very dramatic (life or death) epsiodes ... and the music to the series was excellent ! Tick all the boxes !

Ghostbusters (Trailer 1984)
A really great movie loaded with one liners. They don't write them like this anymore, which is a shame. It'd be nice to see a new film in which every scene is crafted such as this !

13th Warrior - Engineering Dispute
A comment at You Tube aptly explains what's happening here.
For those who will ask why the duel:
The prince was putting the good guys down with the king [who they are trying to help], so they chose [to pick on] the big redhead dude [a buddy of the prince, to get this prince to back off.]

Josh Pyke - You Dont Scare Me
Apparently this official music video was made by a 15 year old girl using a still camera, plasticine, toilet rolls + toast (see the you tube description). It's brilliant ! Amazing what you can create from almost nothing !! Really really inspirational ! Wow !!

1978 Boba Fett Cartoon
This is from the Star Wars Holiday Special TV program. It's fantastic and has a better feel to the thing than the prequels. I'm sure it's because of the genuine run-down/heavily garbaged look to everything.
Remember this is before Empire and we get to see Boba Fett !

Other Lives - For 12
Great clip and song .... it has a monolith, albiet triangular, like the movie 2001, it cashes in on Mars "anomaly" stuff (regardless of whether you think they are real or not), and has a cool flyer that comes from NASA's lifting body testing done in the 1960s (it is the 1st design shape seen in the intro of the TV show the 6 Million Dollar Man... the 2nd shot of the crash is of a lifting body aircraft minus a central stabilizing fin).

HORROR EXPRESS (1972) - ADVENTURE, HORROR, SCI-FI
This horror science-fiction thriller, a cult favorite, takes place in 1907. Professor Caxton (Christopher Lee), a fossil-hunter has discovered some sort of pre-human creature frozen in ancient Manchurian ice. He is traveling to London with his find on the Trans-Siberian Railway and is horrified to discover that his frozen man is missing, and corpses and zombies are appearing all over the train.
This is pretty good ! Watch the first few minutes and get on board !

Flashdance What A Feeling - Irene Cara Official Video
Crank it right up !! I will confess that I have not seen Flashdance but I like the sentiment here and the idea. One person, "beating the odds", to follow their dream. Fight and fight and fight to overcome. Unbeatable 80s idealism ... Pump it up ! Pump it up !
And the way is in training eh ? Be determined. ;)

Blade Runner Love Scene
great film clip .... sets, lighting, smoke(!), cinematography, soundtrack - all brilliant. There's real texture to the film. This here is a good lesson about creating mood / a visual feast for the audience. Most of the film we see put out today in cinemas appears very sterile in contrast.

Max Headroom - Dream Thieves
I love the dystopian futurescapes from the 1980s !
and with the economic crises we face today we might be headed in that direction for the early part of the 21st century .....

Gypsy & The Cat - Time To Wander
not the best music video but an awesome track ... perhaps they can think of making another vid to go with their great song ...
if they wanna put dancers in it I think it should be shot at night with blinding spot lights, laser lights, dreamy sequences etc. Alternatively I can imagine a clip that is shot during the day ... a journey ... with quick edits, plus wide landscapes ... a group of people travelling ...

"Max Headroom" TV Intro
Max Headroom (1987 1988) is a short-lived but ground-breaking American science fiction television series which aired on Cinemax, then on ABC. The series was developed from a British television movie, 20 Minutes into the Future, that was developed to provide background for the Max Headroom character, originally developed for Channel 4's The Max Headroom Show in 1985-1986. The Original Max Talking Headroom Show was a Cinemax show that came out later in 1987.
Awesome TV show from the 80s centred on a corporate run dystopian future ... a series "ahead of its time" ...
Correct me if I am wrong but 80s television shows were much more diverse than shows seen in recent decades. Networks took risks with highly imaginative and original programs !
